ADAM & DANI - AUDUBON SANCTUARY
Adam & Dani travelled in from Nashville, Tennessee to have their wedding nestled in the magical Santa Fe mountains. This couple fit in perfectly to the eclectic surroundings of the Randall Davey Audubon & Sanctuary. The early 20th century American painter Randall Davey’s home studio is still intact on the Sawmill property, featuring his oil paints, library and antiques. Adam’s attire was complete with a bolo tie, which captured the refined southwest influence, that this studio reflects. He fit right in, and I love what we captured in the artist’s studio for his groom portraits.
There was a parlor off the upstairs bedroom that was painted with the artist’s signature nudes amongst a flowered forest or orange trees and featured cranes standing in water. The vintage furniture sat atop black and white checkered tiled floors for added 20th century style. The feminine details were strewed about creating so much interest in every corner. This space alone is what drew Dani in, and why she wanted to get married at the sanctuary. The bridal portraits of her in this artistic space, are so elegant. My favorite shot, is the one of her looking into the arched vintage mirrors, Dani’s hand mimics the painted hand on the walls. It wasn’t posed, but the visual symmetry of this shot felt like an ode to the artist, I’m just happy to have caught this small detail.
Their first look was grounded and emotional. Dani surprised Adam with a special gift, a framed picture of his late father to be pinned inside his leopard print lined jacket. His jacket lining matched Dani’s leopard print boots. Their subtle leopard print coordination, complimented the other, like a whisper of their shared partnership. The two wanted to be linked in a way that was only for them. In a way that brought them joy.
Their wedding ceremony was held on the lower lawn under a sage and pink-tinged grass arch, adorned with peach roses and flowers created by Floriography. It was dreamy and complimented the aspens and fall foliage around the area. With heartfelt details, these two were emotionally deep and present on their wedding day. During their vows, the couple’s officiant did a traditional binding of their hands with a sentimental braided rope and read from the bride’s late father’s officiant book. This special honor of their loved ones was rewarded with a spiritual visit, a family of deer. The family moseyed through the nearby field greeting the couple before they left for their reception.
Adam and Dani drove through the winding dirt roads, where the golden hour light beamed through the trees all the way up to their reception, located at Izanami an upscale Japanese restaurant at Ten Thousand Waves Spa, featuring upscale izakaya dining. They were received by their guests in an indoor/outdoor space at the top of the hill in the Japanese inspired gardens. Masterful cocktails served in vintage glasses and large orb lights hung from the ceiling. The couple shared their first dance, received toasts and partook in their ceremonial cake cutting before dinner. Their guests, who came in from all over, were treated to a five course tasting menu and sake. The night ended with open dancing in the restaurant.
What Dani shared about her experience with Trouvaille: “We loved working with Loren for our Santa Fe destination wedding. She brought an ease to the day and even supported me in a quick sewing moment with my wedding dress! We are beyond thrilled with the final photos of the day and would highly recommend Loren as a wedding photographer!”
